I continue to re-visit early blog posts in order to update them a bit and add photos.
I find myself asking, “How could I ever have written a blog post without photos?”
I guess I had not yet discovered Pixabay back then…

I have chosen today’s glorious photos of iris because they are another one of my favorite flowers — especially the old-fashioned varieties.
We have a bunch of iris which grow alongside our driveway.
The purple ones have an aroma which — to my nose — smells exactly like grape soda.
Yum!
I am guessing it will be another week or two before our iris start blooming here in the Boston area… and I am waiting patiently for their aromatic arrival.

I love irises too, Will, but I’ve never seen one like the last photo. A bit bizarre. I prefer the other two, actually. I’m waiting for my earliest irises to bloom any day now. They’re dark blue. I also have a purple one that smells like Graperoo bubble gum, maybe the same type as the one you mentioned.
Yes! They have a vivid artificial grape aroma — which is utterly natural for them. Hurrah for impending iris blossoms!
Wow. Moon River blew me away, So achingly beautiful. These bearded beauties are starting to bloom now at The Holler.

Irises are beautiful. Ours are not up yet–purple, violet, and white. I’ve never seen any coffee-colored ones either. I’ve seen some beautiful yellow ones around the neighborhood in previous years. Hope all is well with you and yours!

I love the Irises. I saw a batch down here in Florida. They were like a hyacinth blue. But only bloomed for a short time and it was a first time for seeing them at park I walk in almost every weekend. 🙂
